2009 Zocker Riesling

The fruit for the Zocker Riesling was grown in the Niven family’s estate Paragon Vineyard in the Edna Valley on California’s Central Coast. Soils are generally made up of Diablo series, clay loam, rocky marine sediment, and volcanic remnants. The Riesling block was planted in a section with thinner well-draining soils, high in red volcanic rock. The vines are made to stress and strain, developing full varietal character. That factor, along with the extended growing season and the influence of the nearby Pacific Ocean, provides terroir that delivers a wine with great acidity and minerality.

Finished Wine

This is a refreshing, vibrant wine with racy acidity. It has juicy melon and peach flavors, a hint of citrus, and a minerality note throughout. It finishes nice and clean.
